A RichLife interview with Ron Broussard
Recently I had the chance to interview RichLife coach, author, and investor, Ron Broussard, to talk about the importance FAITH plays in getting you what you want. Regardless of your religious background, we all have an inner voice. Learning how to trust that voice, and the role it plays in all areas of our life, is what I would like to share with you today.
“A lot of us don’t listen to that inner voice,” says Ron. “And that fear comes from the unknown.”
Most of the time, when it comes to money, problems are really just symptoms of other, larger issues. When looking to live a fulfilled life, the significance of cycles comes up. We are afraid to do something different, and so we stay stuck – the same unhealthy relationships, the same dead-end jobs, the same financial debt.
This happens because we continue to live in our comfort zones in those areas
and never do anything different.
Those feeling of dissatisfaction with your job? With where your career is heading? The apprehension you have about your financial state? Your inability to communicate with your spouse?
Discontent resides in us for reason. That is our inner voice speaking,
telling us to step back, take a look at this, and gain insight.
“People are a little afraid to talk about those things,” says Ron. “A lot of people don’t want to discuss their finances, but that reality needs to be seen before you can know what to do.”
“When your kids were born, you didn’t think that they wouldn’t grow up to be healthy, or that they wouldn’t be able to walk,” continues Ron.
“That’s faith. And that’s what you need to apply here.”
Ron suggests taking that same FAITH and applying it to any area of your life where you feel discontent. He has prescribed a 4-PART PLAN which we have laid out here. Use faith to get you out of that comfort zone and take that FIRST STEP, which is getting clear about the facts.
“For me, this means getting on my knees and praying and getting into the mindset of what I need. Don’t talk to God about your problems. He already knows those. Talk about the things you want to achieve.”
Once you have taken that leap of faith to look at things as they are now and you know where you want to go, your SECOND STEP becomes clear. Ron defines this step as taking action.
“Make that phone call. Have that conversation with your wife. Get an appointment to see a financial planner. As it says in the Bible, Faith without works is dead.”
The THIRD STEP is to employ consistency. The previous two steps will point you to an action plan. This plan will require that you show up with consistency to do the things that you know you have to do.
“My dad was old school minister. He always told me that God doesn’t put anything in your life that you can’t handle and that you can’t overcome, as long as you stay focused on what you need to do to accomplish your goals.”
Be consistent about your actions, even if at first you make some mistakes. Which leads us to the FINAL STEP of the plan: Tweak it. You might find after a month or two that you have to change something about your plan. Maybe the goal you set for yourself was unrealistic. Maybe something new showed up in your life. Adjust, change your approach, and carry on.
“In the end, success will come to you. But you have to start with Faith.”
